End of financial year sales happen every year in June because the Australian financial year ends on 30 June. It’s when retailers and businesses start to cut prices to clear out their stock and make room for next year’s goodies. It also means tax return time is right around the corner.

End of financial year sales ends 30 June.

Some purchases you make throughout a financial year could be tax deductible, including those purchased during EOFY sale. To know what deductions can be made, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has useful tax deduction guides for individuals and business tax deduction guides for small businesses. However, engaging a qualified tax accountant will provide advice specific to your own circumstances.

As well as EOFY, Telstra generally has major sale events for Black Friday and Christmas.

Things you need to know

Plan prices

Your plan and add-ons may change (including price and inclusions), or we may move you to a new plan (which may cost more). If you don't like a change, you can change your plan or cancel your plan or add-ons. When you cancel, your service will be disconnected immediately. We won't refund any money you've already paid, and you'll need to pay out any remaining devices, accessories or services in full when you cancel.

Promo codes 

To redeem a promotional promo code, choose an eligible product or plan and add it to your cart to start the checkout process. In cart review, enter the promo code. You have three attempts to enter. If you exceed this, the promo code will be invalid. Once you add the promo code, your cart will display the discounted price. Roll onto Telstra’s standard month-to-month price after six months unless you change or cancel beforehand.   

Telstra 5G

Telstra currently offers 5G in select areas and is progressively rolling it out to other areas. In non-5G coverage areas, you’ll automatically switch to our 4G. Check coverage map.

4GX

The Telstra Mobile Network offers 4GX in all capital CBDs and selected suburban and regional areas and is progressively rolling out to more places. In other coverage areas around Australia, you’ll automatically switch to our fastest available 4G. Check coverage map.

Outside 4GX areas, you will switch to our fastest available 4G speed. Speeds vary for reasons like location, distance from base stations, terrain, user numbers, hardware/software configuration, download source and upload destination.

Data usage

This plan comes with a data allowance to use in Australia. You won’t be charged if you go over your monthly data allowance. Instead, you can continue to access data up to speeds of 1.5Mbps. 1.5mbps isn’t suitable for HD video or high-speed applications, and means that some web pages, social media content and files may take longer to load). In addition, heavy data users (users in the top 1% of all data users) may experience slower speeds than other users during busy periods. The speeds you actually receive may vary depending on a range of factors including your device, location, number of users and download sources. Your data allowance is for personal use in a smartphone or tablet in Australia only and the FairPlay Policy applies.

Compatible handset

Compatible Telstra mobile network handset required. Check your device's compatibility.

Device Payment Contract (DPC)

You must have an eligible Telstra Mobile Plan in order to have a DPC. If you cancel your DPC early, cancel your mobile plan during the device payment term or move to an ineligible mobile plan during the payment term, you’ll need to pay out your device, in full. Device discounts do not apply to cancelled DPC.

Talk, text and data

Excludes calls, SMS and MMS to premium numbers, some satellite numbers, and use overseas.

International Calling Pack

30 minutes of international calls and unlimited international SMS, to all countries, are included in our Upfront Mobile plans. Once you’ve used the 30 minutes, you can add an International Calling Pack to your plan from $10 per month. You can add or remove it at any time in the My Telstra app. International Calling Pack includes an allowance of calls from Australia to standard international numbers in eligible destinations. View eligible destinations here.

International roaming

The only way to use your service overseas is by purchasing an International Roaming day pass. You can purchase an International Roaming day pass at $5 per day in 7 eligible countries, or $10 per day in more than 70 eligible countries. Day pass Zone 1 and 2 packs include 2GB of data to use per day as well as unlimited talk and text. Usage expires at the end of a 24-hour day pass period. If you go over your 2GB, you can add an additional 2GB for $10 for use within 31 days. A day pass is triggered whenever a call is made or received, an SMS is sent or if any mobile data is used in an eligible destination.

If you’re travelling to a destination where our International Roaming day pass isn’t available, you cannot use your Telstra service.

Telstra Plus upgrade

You're eligible for the Telstra Plus upgrade if you’re an existing Telstra Plus member or if you sign up to Telstra Plus and are on an Essential or Premium mobile plan. Telstra Plus tier upgrade will be applied within 30 days and will apply for a year aligned to membership date. Once you reach the anniversary of the relevant membership year, we'll let you know that this offer is ending and you'll be moved to the relevant tier based on your previous year’s spend.

Cancelling your plan

If you cancel your Telstra Upfront Mobile Plan, you will not receive a pro rata refund for the remainder of your month. If you have any device, accessory or service add-ons attached to your plan, you will have to pay any remaining amount owing as a one-off payment.

Changes to your plan

Your upfront mobile plan may change (including price and inclusions). With no lock-in, you can change your plan once a month or leave. If you leave, just pay out your device, accessories or services in full.

Trade-In

Telstra Trade-In is managed by Assurant Services Australia Pty Ltd. To be eligible for Trade-In, you must be a Telstra consumer or small business customer aged 18+, with a post-paid service and have a device, tablet or smartwatch with us on an Upfront plan or with an existing 13-digit account number. Not available to customers with a ten-digit account number or Upgrade & Protect. Devices on Telstra Mobile Lease plans are ineligible. You may only trade in a device, tablet or smartwatch from Assurant’s list of eligible devices. The credit offer will vary depending on your device, tablet or smartwatch type, model and its working condition, and is subject to assessment. Credit applied by second bill, or to a nominated credit/debit card within 30 days for Upfront Mobile plans. For more details check the Trade-In page.

Telstra Plus

To join Telstra Plus you must be 18+ with an active service. Points are earned on payment for services or Pre-Paid recharge (excluding outright purchases, refunds, credits and late payment fees). Points expire three years from earning. Marketing opt-in required (preferences can be changed). Excludes Telstra Enterprise and Corporate accounts. See the Telstra Plus program terms and conditions.

 

nbn home internet plans

Important

Your fixed broadband service can never go faster than the maximum line speed available at your premises, so for FTTN/B/C customers we will confirm your actual speeds after connection and let you know if your line is not able to achieve the maximum speed of your plan. 

The ‘typical busy period speeds’ are not measures of customers’ actual in-premises speeds, which may be slower. Not all customers receive these speeds. Find out more about speeds for Telstra customers on the nbn network  and Opticomm access network.

Telstra Smart Modem™ 

Mobile backup is available to premises in 4G coverage areas. Check coverage at telstra.com/coverage. Your mobile backup connection is capped at 25Mbps for downloads and 5Mbps for uploads. Actual speeds may be lower due to local conditions and content accessed.

Fetch set top box

Fetch box 

Available to new and migrating customers to Fetch with Telstra. Price varies between Fetch Mini and Fetch Mighty. Min cost $8.25/mth over 24mths. Additional charges will apply for any channels packs or streaming services subscribed to. Limit of 3 Fetch boxes per household, per account. If you cancel your monthly Fetch box repayments before your contract period ends, you will need to pay out the remainder of your Fetch box as a one-off payment on your next billing date.

Ultimate Pack & Movie Box

Available to new customers to Fetch with Telstra. After 3 months opt into Ultimate Pack (currently $20/mth) and Movie Box (currently $1.99/mth) to continue access. Prices and channels subject to change.

Multiroom Offer

Multiroom allows you to share recordings, movies, TV shows and Channel Packs between boxes. Multiroom at Telstra is charged at $5/mth per customer. From 15 August 2023 until 30 September 2025, customers with more than 1 Fetch box will receive Multiroom on us. After September 30 2025, customers will be charged $5 p/m for multi-room. We will send you communications prior to September 2025 to advise you of the changes.

Streaming apps on Fetch

You must have an active subscription or account to use streaming apps. We cannot guarantee the availability or quality of these apps which are dependent on availability and support by third-party providers.

Telstra 5G

International Roaming

The only way to use your service overseas is by purchasing an International Roaming Day Pass. You can purchase an International Day Pass at $5 per day in New Zealand, or $10 per day in more than 70 eligible countries. Day Pass Zone 1 and 2 packs include 500MB of data to use per day. Usage expires at the end of a 24 hour day pass period. If you go over your 500MB, you can add an additional 1GB for $10 for use within 31 days. A Day Pass is triggered whenever any mobile data is used in an eligible country.

If you’re travelling to a country where our International Day Pass isn’t available, you cannot use your Telstra service.

Cancelling your plan

Roll over unused data when you recharge $13-$69 before expiry on eligible recharges. Unlimited calls and text exclude satellite and premium numbers (e.g. 19xx numbers), operator assisted calls (e.g. most 12xx numbers) and diverted calls. Our FairPlay policy (PDF 227 KB) applies.

Our speeds

Download speeds are capped on some plans.  Your capped download speed is the maximum potential download speed for data included in your recharge.  Factors impacting typical speed include locations, distance from the base station, terrain, concurrent users, hardware and software configuration, download source and upload destination.

Telstra Pre-Paid mobile devices

An unlocking fee may apply for use with a non-Telstra SIM card. Check our unlocking information page. Limit 1 per customer and no trade sales. Important

An nbn service can never go faster than the maximum line speed available at your premises, so for FTTN/B/C customers we will confirm your maximum attainable speed after connection and let you know if your line is not able to achieve the maximum speed of your plan. 
The nbn® tier figures represent wholesale maximum network speeds during off-peak periods. The nbn® tier figures and ‘typical busy period speeds’ are not measures of customers’ actual in-premises speeds, which may be slower. Not all customers receive these speeds. nbn® New Development Charge

If you’re in a new development without existing phone or internet infrastructure, nbn co may impose a $300 New Development Charge (NDC) to connect you to the nbn network. This includes new lots, subdivisions, and granny flats with a separate address from the primary residence. If applicable, we will bill that charge to you and we will let you know at the time of confirming your order and you will have the option to cancel. Extra charges may apply for non-standard or professional installation of Telstra or nbn co equipment and for premises in new developments. Once you are connected to nbn fibre, you won’t be able to move to our copper network.

4G Backup with Telstra Smart Modem™

Mobile backup is available to premises in 4G coverage areas. Check coverage at telstra.com/coverage. In the event of a fault on the nbn, our Smart Modem can switch your service to the 4G mobile network automatically. We’ll switch your service back to the nbn when the fault is resolved.

The 4G mobile backup service is uncapped and unshaped when there’s a fault. This means there is no limit on data allowance or speed, and it's included in the plan, so you don't have to worry about additional charges.

Medical security alarms, lift phones and fire indicator panels

If you have alarms such as back-to-base security alarm or medi-alert connected to your home phone service, it’s important you contact your medical or security provider to check if they’re compatible with the service and identify what alternatives are available.
